CPJ REACHES OUT TO WIDOW OF MAN THAT KILLED HIS FOUR CHILDREN: SETS HOUSE ABLAZE AND HANGS SELF IN A DOMESTIC VIOLENCE CASE.
CPJ successfully established contact with Mrs Favour Achibong, whose husband committed sucide after killing their four Children in the early hours of Wed. the 12th of Dec. 2018 somewhere in the outskirts of Port Harcourt.
Catalyst Tunde Stephen (CPJ Regional Co-ordinator SS/SE) was mandated with the challenging task of locating the bereaved Woman Just a day after the incidence. He led a team of some Assistants to the house where the tragic event took place.
On getting to the premises, they were fortunate to meet the Landlord who conducted them around the compound.
The team were later led to a family friend of the late man where the Widow is temporarily putting up.
After the initial introduction the Woman broke down completely devastated and terribly traumatised. Prayers and counselling were offered to console her. She happened to be a member of Jehovah witness.
She later shared some of her experiences with the CPJ team. She was married to the late Man for about ten years.
She said they have being living as enemies with lots of battering for the past ten years. She has a swollen face and some scars on her hand where the late husband attacked her with a cutlass in the past.
The CPJ team spoke at length with Favour and assured her she will not be left stranded and alone in this Harrowing and utterly devastating time.
